It was agreed at last night’s committee meeting to loan the car out for the Race Around Ireland. Rodney Joyce (cc’ed) will be re-joining the club and will be the relevant member. Another member Mervyn Bent will be working support for them. Can whichever of you does the calendar please allocate it to the Race from Friday August 28th to CoB Friday September 4th .
Thanks

Between now and late August we'll need to contact Orwell and confirm the car, what it will come with ( in terms of roof racks and anything esle) ?
We will need to collect it at the latest on the Friday 28th so as to bring to the Check-In.
I've the impression that it will need to be ME who collects it, as the car is being loaned out to me as an Orwell Member. And i presume it will need to be me to return it.
INSURANCE ... any would be driver needs to be sure that they have suitable OPEN DRIVING or whatever to cover them whilst they are driving !!!!

TO BE DETERMINED .. the actual use of this Car ??
... if follow on vehicle in which case it carries two persons (driver + navigator), has to be kitted out with full lights, maybe a spare bike, and certainluy some spare wheels and some clothes
what else ?
... if one of the leap frog cars ... then it will have the 4 cyclists rotating one on the road the other three in the car ; room for at least 3 bikes on the roof , clothes and food.

I'll need dimensions to confirm it complies as a follow car. Should be fine.

Just a thought in relation to car size; with roof top bike racks they need to fit under low bridges etc. Probably worrying for nothing but better safe than sorry, I will look through the route notes and see if they give low bridge heights.
